Luminous Electric Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer
Here at Luminous Electric, we know it wouldn’t be possible to do what we do without the support of our community who trusts us and allows us to do it. Giving back to that community is woven into the very fabric of our business, and we’re always on the lookout for ways in which we can support great causes and give of ourselves and our time to make the world a better place. One of these causes that’s so close to us is that of breast cancer—a vicious disease that threatens the health and lives of women all around the world.
That’s why we’re extremely proud to be a part of this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer—a charity walk and fundraiser which benefits breast cancer research efforts as well as support systems for women and families dealing with the disease. Through this effort, we hope to meet our fundraising goal of $2,500 in charitable contributions to the American Cancer Society.
How to Get Involved
If you would like to get involved in helping our team reach their fundraising goal or even take part in the walk with us, we invite you to do so! Those who wish to donate to our team can go online to our team page on the Making Strides website and choose a member of our team to contribute to. Any and all contributions are welcomed and greatly valued! We hope to reach our goal of $1,000 by the deadline—the day of the walk which is October 19th.
Those who wish to join our team or simply take part in the walk can do so through online registration. On our team’s page, hit the button which says “join our team” and fill out the registration form to be added to our roster. Those who wish to join for another team or to do so on their own may do so by hitting the “join this walk” button at the top of the page.
The event is scheduled to take place on October 19th at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. Check-in for the event will begin at 7:00am and the walk itself will begin promptly at 9am. Entrants may choose one of two distances: a one-mile walk and a 5k. Once the walk is completed, there will be food trucks on-site as well as a number of other fun events for attendees. Breast cancer survivors will also be honored at the event through a Survivor & Thriver Brunch as well as a Survivor & Thriver photo to be taken on the main stage of the event at 8:30am.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a series of fundraising walks to support and benefit breast cancer programs of the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society provides support, resources, and other invaluable help to those who are suffering from cancers, including the more than 250,000 women who are diagnosed with the disease each year. The services they provide include free rides to chemo treatments, places to stay near treatment facilities, and a cancer helpline that’s available 24/7 for those dealing with the disease. Making Strides has grown to become the single largest network of breast cancer events in the entire country, with walks being held in virtually every major metropolitan area across the United States.
